ICC Sanctions Players Following Heated India-Pakistan Asia Cup Encounters

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed sanctions on players from India and Pakistan for breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct during the 2025 Asia Cup matches held in September. The disciplinary actions address incidents that occurred during the high-stakes encounters between the two rival teams.

Sanctions Imposed on Players

Pakistan’s fast bowler Haris Rauf has been handed a two-match suspension and fined 30% of his match fees for making inappropriate gestures during the matches against India. These actions were deemed to have brought the game into disrepute. As a result, Rauf will miss Pakistan’s upcoming One-Day International (ODI) matches against South Africa.

On the Indian side, captain Suryakumar Yadav was fined 30% of his match fee for dedicating India’s victory over Pakistan to the Indian armed forces, a statement that led to a formal complaint from the Pakistan Cricket Board. Additionally, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah received an official warning for a gesture made during the final match of the tournament.

Notably, players from both teams refrained from the customary handshake after the final match on September 28, reflecting the strained relations on the field.
