Israel Blocks Gaza Aid Amid Renewed Military Strikes
On October 28, 2025, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered immediate and forceful military operations in the Gaza Strip. This directive led to a series of airstrikes that resulted in the deaths of over 100 Palestinians, including 46 children, and left 253 others injured. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that these strikes targeted senior Hamas commanders and sites deemed as ongoing threats.
Ceasefire Violations and Escalating Tensions
The escalation followed accusations that Hamas violated the existing ceasefire by misrepresenting the return of an Israeli hostage’s remains. In response, Netanyahu authorized the airstrikes, marking the deadliest night since the fragile truce began on October 10. The United Nations and various international aid organizations have condemned Israel’s actions, calling for an immediate restoration of humanitarian assistance. The blockade has been criticized as collective punishment and a potential war crime, significantly worsening Gaza’s humanitarian crisis. Over 600,000 Palestinians have been displaced, many returning to damaged homes, and the health sector is on the brink of collapse due to the lack of medical supplies and infrastructure.
