UN Peacekeepers Report Israeli Wall Encroaches into Lebanese Territory

In October 2025, UNIFIL peacekeepers conducted a geospatial survey of the wall erected southwest of Yaroun, a village in Lebanon’s southern Nabatieh district. The survey confirmed that the wall extended beyond the Blue Line, rendering over 4,000 square meters of Lebanese land inaccessible to local residents. Additionally, in November, peacekeepers observed further T-wall construction southeast of Yaroun, which also crossed the Blue Line.

UNIFIL’s Response

UNIFIL has formally informed the IDF of these findings and requested the removal of the walls. The peacekeeping force emphasized that Israeli presence and construction in Lebanese territory violate UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and infringe upon Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. UNIFIL reiterated its call for the IDF to respect the Blue Line in its entirety and withdraw from all areas north of it.

Israeli Military’s Position

The Israeli military has denied any breach of the Blue Line, stating that the wall is part of a broader plan initiated in 2022 to reinforce the northern border. The IDF asserts that the wall does not cross the Blue Line and is intended to enhance security measures along the border.
