iBomma Founder Immadi Ravi Arrested in Hyderabad for Movie Piracy
Hyderabad police have arrested Immadi Ravi, the founder of the notorious piracy website iBomma, upon his arrival from France on November 14, 2025. Ravi was taken into custody at Kukatpally and is currently under investigation for his involvement in large-scale movie piracy operations.
International Operations and Financial Seizures
Investigations revealed that Ravi had been operating the iBomma platform remotely from the Caribbean Islands. The website was infamous for uploading newly released Telugu films and OTT content, causing significant financial losses to the film industry. Following his arrest, authorities froze Ravi’s bank accounts containing approximately ₹3 crore, suspected to be proceeds from his piracy activities.
Industry Impact and Legal Actions
The Telugu Film Anti-Piracy Team and several producers had previously lodged complaints against iBomma for its role in distributing pirated content. The platform’s activities have been linked to industry losses amounting to crores of rupees. In response, Hyderabad Cybercrime police had earlier booked 65 mirror websites, including iBomma, for illegally uploading and distributing Telugu films.
Ongoing Investigations
Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify other individuals involved in the piracy network. Further arrests are anticipated as digital forensics and financial trails are examined to dismantle the entire operation.
